Make Haiku
Today's ds106's assigment is making Haiku. As many people know, Haiku is one kind of Japanese traditional poem.
Haiku have very deep system, but it can work for only Japanese language, so this Haiku will be litbit different style from Japanese language Haiku. However, it does not matter!! :)
Today I want to write about my kitty's feeling!
central focus by Nanami Komiyama
"If you see my face
I'm sure you want to say cute
I love to hear that"
The description of this assignment
CAT. Lol firstly I think it's really cool that you re-used a Daily Shoot picture for this assignment (and even properly credited yourself, which is kinda funny).
返信削除When looking at this though I kinda feel that "-(Cat's name)" or something like that should follow the end of the haiku, just because it's from the cat's perspective, and also because that would make the piece a little more amusing, I think :P
The poem you made is great because you don't express your straight feeling toward the cat like "I love cat!," but put a twist on it (a view point from the cat). I think haiku now becomes international. It has a slight different rules from Japanese one, though (No seasonal word/phrase required, etc.)
返信削除I saw that you posted a new assignment task similar to this on the ds106 website probably by mistake. I think you'd better withdraw it.
I'm not completely clear on Shinichiro's comment about new assignment. Maybe you can ask him in class. Thanks for the helpful advice Shinichiro.
返信削除As for your image and haiku: I dig them both. Maybe haiku cats will replace the LOL cats as the next internet meme.
You are the second or third student who has mentioned that haikus written in English aren't exactly haikus. That is a very interesting and mysterious statement. I wonder if any other languages besides Japanese can be used to compose a true Haiku.
Probably not if, as you say, they can only be composed in Japanese language.
Which brings another questions: are there other languages that hold a monopoly on a particular literary form?
Food for thought - I sure don't know the answer.
Haiku cats replacing lolcats??? Ceiling cat is not amused (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ceiling-cat#.TqgosN6F9tk)
返信削除I would be interested on the haiku in English thing as well because from my limited understanding of it you need to construct lines in accordance with a syllabic structure...that much I do know but if that's all there is to creating "English haiku" then it doesn't really seem like the equivalent of a poem to me. Am I missing something?
ok I have to comment here... I love cats. so much. And I always wish my cat talks. So your(your cat's?)haiku made me smile. I do think cats know they are cute too.lol
